La Capitale, Four Seasons Hotel

This fine French Brasserie oozes glamour and sophistication; it is 21st century Art Deco with elegant marble floors, rich honey colored leather seats, Carrara marble tables on black bases, accented with stunning brass light fixtures with globe moons for lights on opposite ends. The layout includes a separate bar area where one can enjoy a drink before dining, as well as an open kitchen to showcase the chefs’ talents.La Capitale Interior

The JLE group visited this fine restaurant for a set menu with options to choose from for the main course. The staff was very professional and quick to bring out the drinks, while the starters arrived soon after, starting with fresh Burrata cheese, Veal Carpaccio, Crevette Bouquet (Shrimp in a Lemon Olive Oil dressing), and Quiche du Jour, and a variety of salads. For the main course we were given the choice of Salmon with creamy Quinoa, Steak with authentic French fries or Chicken with Crapuadine (a garlic rosemary sauce) dishes. All of this goodness was followed by the scrumptious desserts that included Profiteroles, Tarte de Citron Merringuée (lemon meringue tart), Nougat Glacé and Millefeuille. Each dish was delicious, without a doubt, yet the portions seemed somewhat meager (very French, indeed).

It was a wonderful experience, but could have been made better if the ventilation system was better equipped at handling the fumes from grilling and frying the meal in the open kitchen. This was a major issue for us as no one appreciated going home smelling like dinner.Furthermore, and like a true brasserie, it was incredibly difficult to have a meaningful conversation with the person across the table.

Nevertheless, La Capitale is definitely worth trying. It is the perfect venue for a special occasion designed to savor this fine dining experience in all its nuances. But do bring your money bags, as it is not a place for a limited budget.
